About this item:

Using plastic bottles, wooden dowels, and other everyday items, students work together in small groups to build a DIY anemometer, a device used to measure wind speed. Once construction is complete, they calibrate their anemometer and understand the importance of establishing a control for scientific experiments. Then study wind speed by analyzing the rotations of the anemometer's spinning cup during a set period of time. Students learn to collaborate, think critically, and collect real-world data. Set includes everything needed for 12 small groups to construct their own anemometer. Full contents lest below. Recommended for upper Elementary and up.
