About this item:

Students collaborate in small groups to build clocks that run from the power of water flow. They'll conceptualize and sketch their designs, practicing teamwork to incorporate everyone's ideas. They'll use a bell, yarn, and three stacked cups (7 oz, 3 oz, and 1 oz) to construct their water-powered clock.

Poke a hole in the 3 oz cup, place it inside the 7 oz cup. Poke another hole in the 1 oz cup and connect it to the bell with yarn. Place the 1 oz cup in the 3 oz cup and balance the bell on a popsicle stick resting on the rim of the 3 oz cup. Add 2 oz of water to the 3 oz cup and track the time it takes for the bell to fall off its popsicle stick perch.

Students adjust variables such as liquid density and amount to see how the time it takes to drop the bell is affected. Set includes everything needed for up to 24 students and lesson direction. The included lesson direction details setup instructions, activities by grade level, learning objectives, and teaching suggestions to expand lessons. Full contents list below.
